Max Jerome Weems Jr.
CLOPTON - Max Jerome Weems Jr., a resident of Pensacola, Fla., formerly of Clopton, died Friday, December 18, 2009, in a Pensacola hospital. He was 74.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, December 21, 2009, at Olive Baptist Church in Pensacola with Dr. Ted Traylor officiating. Graveside services, with full military honors, were held at 12:00 Noon Tuesday, December 22, 2009, in the Clopton United Methodist Church Cemetery in Clopton, with the Reverend Kenneth Preston officiating. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary was in charge of local arrangements.
Mr. Weems was a native of Clopton, Alabama, son of the late Max Jerome Weems Sr. and Mildred Mims Weems. He was a graduate of Auburn University and was retired with disability from the U.S. Navy as a Lieutenant Commander. Mr. Weems was a member of the Olive Baptist Church in Pensacola and served for many years in the Ensley Lions Club.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Nina Blalock Weems, Pensacola, Fla.; a son, Max J. Weems III, Bremerton, Washington; a daughter, Shannon W. Anderson and husband, Randall Anderson, Sugarland, Texas; grandsons, Evan Anderson and David Anderson; a sister, Olivia Renkl, Birmingham.
