Mrs. Lavina “Grammy” Fifield was born in Winchendon, Massachusetts on September 14, 1930 to Leslie and Harriet Brewer. She died on June 8, 2010 at her home surrounded by family and friends.
A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 12, 2010 from the chapel at Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home with Reverends Jim Hill and Bobby Peters officiating. The family received friends at the funeral home one hour prior to service time on Saturday.
She was preceded in death by both parents; brothers, Aaron Brewer, Ernest Brewer, James Brewer; sisters, Bernice Brewer, Christine Sprague, Davine Talbot, Henrietta Paquin, Irene Brewer and Katherine Seamons. She is also predeceased by the father of her eight children, George Russell Fifield Jr.; one grandson, Michael McPherson, and two sons-in-law, Luther E. Danner and Rex S. Graves.
Left to cherish her memory are two sisters, Geneva McPherson and Frances Crosier; one brother, Marcus Brewer (Bertha); eight children, Frank Fifield (Irene), Harriet Hodgkins, Mildred McPherson (Norman), Leslie Fifield (Jo’Anne), David Fifield (Debbie), Deborah Morrison (Danny), Rena Nance (Edward) and Georgieanna Graves; a host of grandchildren, great–grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She will be remembered for her love of flowers, butterflies, birds, books, crocheting, knitting, homemade fudge and spending time with her family.
The family would like to extend their appreciation and gratitude to the staffs of Community Hospice, Dale Medical Center and Southeast Alabama Medical Center.
